Se debe su fundaci\u00f3n a Alfonso VIII (1212). Cumpli\u00f3 su funci\u00f3n espl\u00e9ndidamente durante siglos y para su administraci\u00f3n y servicio ten\u00eda doce freires y siete comendadoras, caritativas monjas de pomposo h\u00e1bito que han subsistido hasta nuestros d\u00edas.<\/strong><br><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Debe de ser visitado su patio de romeros, cuya puerta plateresca data de 1526. Sobre un arco de medio punto apoyado en columnas abalaustradas, Santiago sedente nos da la bienvenida entre escudos de castillos y leones. En lo alto, San Miguel lucha con el drag\u00f3n. Detr\u00e1s est\u00e1 nuestra Se\u00f1ora y los poblados escudos de Carlos V con el incitante &#8220;Plus Ultra&#8221;.<\/strong><br><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Actualmente es la sede de la
